May 16, 2009, Pawhuska, OK … You say you make the most original & innovative Indian Taco that has ever been eaten? Well here’s your chance to prove it … mark your calendar to attend the Osage Nation’s newest  and tastiest event, the 5th Annual National Indian Taco Championship, May 16th, 2009, 10 AM – 4 PM located in Downtown Pawhuska, OK on HWY 60 (45 miles going east from Ponca City and 28 miles west from Bartlesville.) If you love Indian Tacos then you’ll love the NITC. In addition to the Classic or Traditional Indian Taco, we have the category of “Dessert” Indian Taco. So, if you’re ready to prove that you’re the “Champion” of Indian Tacos grab your recipes; you say you’re more of an eater than competitor, then come hungry and come prepared to feast on the best Indian Tacos, anywhere.

 

     Prizes will be awarded as follows:  1st Place –$1,500; 2nd Place –$1,000; and 3rd Place – $500. The Classic or Traditional Indian Tacos being entered into the contest must include the following ingredients  Fry bread, Meat (also accepted Buffalo, Beefalo, lamb, venison or pork); Lettuce, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, and Green Chilis (optional). The Dessert Indian Taco has no requirements or restrictions other than it must include Fry bread. Contest Registration Deadline:  5 PM, April 30th, 2009, No Exceptions.  Registration forms are available on-line at www.indiantacochampionship.com.  Please return entries and the $20 registration fee to the Osage Nation, attn: NITC, 627 Grandview, Pawhuska, OK  74056.  Make checks or money orders payable to Pawhuska Community Foundation/Osage Events.  Winners will be required to release their recipes to the Osage Nation for promotional purposes.
