March 27, 2013
Osage Nation Social Services, along with other tribal departments, participated in the Northern California Osages Association meeting in Petaluma, California, on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Chief Red Eagle gave the opening remarks and prayer, followed by presentations from the Cultural Center, Historic Preservation, NAGPRA, Language, Social Services, Education, and Child Support departments. Each department also had a booth set up to provide informational material. In addition, the Language and Cultural Center departments offered hands-on activities throughout the day, and Cultural Center representatives led attendees in Handgames that evening.
For Osage Nation Social Services this was an opportunity to reach out to families in California and the surrounding areas to encourage them to become resource families for Osage children. ONSS is involved in child welfare cases in the area and is looking for stable Osage homes in which children may be placed, if it becomes necessary.
If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a Resource Family for Osage Nation Social Services, please contact Rebecca Fish 918/287-5338 firstname.lastname@example.org or Jenny Rush-Buffalohead 918/287-5629 email@example.com. You may also call the main office toll free at 800/460-4615.
