Director

Hello, my name is Patti Shook. I have been employed with the Osage Nation for 10 years now. I am currently the Director of the Prevention Programs and have been for 4 years. In my position, I have played a critical part in the continuation and development of the components within the Prevention Programs through grant writing and strategic planning.
I attended University of Oklahoma where I received my Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies. My previous employments have been as a teacher, social worker and grant writer.
Growing up, I was raised by horse traders. Attending a lot of rodeos, horse auctions and ranching has allowed me to meet a lot of different folks along the way. I enjoy barrel racing and compete in rodeos.

 Prevention Specialist

Hello, my name is Peaches Hail. I am the Prevention Specialist for the Osage Nation Prevention Programs. I have worked previously for the Osage Rural Home Health for 2 1/2 years as the In-Home Client Coordinator and also the CDIB/Membership Department as the Membership/CDIB Technician for 9 years. I am married to the most loving husband, Eric Hail, who is also the father of my 2 terrific children. we have a total of 4 children; Teegan (Tigi, as we like to call her, she is the baby), Gage aka Hun-Ka (he's our only boy and the big brother), and last but not least, Erica and Kiona, who are my 2 lovely step-daughters that do not live with us. We are of Osage and Cheyenne-Arapaho descent and are involved with every aspect of our cultures. My family is Catholic and we attend the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here in Pawhuska, My family is from the Grayhorse District and we are members of the Eagle Clan. We also participate in our In-Lon-Sch-Ka that we have every year in June, which is our Osage Ceremonial Dances. I have served as a past Cook for the Grayhorse Committee, as well as my father, Franklin McKinley, who has served as the Grayhorse Whipman for over 10 years and is currently the Drum Warmer for the current Grayhorse DrumKeeper. Also, my sister, Crystal McKinley, was recently the Head Cook for the Grayhorse District for the past 7 years. I also serve as an Angel for the Grayhorse War Mothers, which is an honor. As you can tell my people are my life and my life is enriched by my ties not only with my family but with my Osage people, Being Native is a way of life for me and my family. As a Native America, you are raised to have a deep respect for God, family, and our way of life. That is why I love working for the Osage Nation Prevention Programs because I can share the knowledge and beliefs that I was raised with, not only with other Natives but within the community as a whole; teaching them the importance of being true to one's self and not giving into the temptation or peer pressure of using drugs and alcohol. Being drug and alcohol free is the way of life for me and my family.

Data Research Specialist

Hi! My name is Dana Young and I work at the Osage Nation Prevention Programs as the Data Research Specialist. I've been with the Prevention Programs for about 2 years now. I previously worked for Osage WIC as the Breast Feeding Coordinator and I have also served as a VISTA.
I have a personal investment in this area; I was born and raised here. That's why it's even more meaningful for me to be part of an organization that's doing so much to help our area and its citizens.
On a personal note, I'm the mother of three active little girls, which means I'm a soccer mom, softball mom and an assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader.
I'm also a full time student at Coffeyville Community College (Go Red Ravens!); I'm majoring in Liberal Arts and Science and very near to earning my Associates Degree.
When I actually have spare time, which is extremely rare, I enjoy reading, photography, crafting and all things Rt. 66.

Administrative Assistant

Hello, my name is Samantha Rose Gillett. My family and friends call me Sam or Sammie and you can too if you would like. I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Osage Nation Prevention Programs.
As a mother of an eleven year old boy and a two year old girl, I truly believe that drug prevention is one of the key elements needed to raise a child into a productive adult. That is why I am honored to play a role in th efforts and success of the Prevention Programs.
Other than small side jobs, my entire employment history consists of working for the osage Nation. I have worked in various different departments mostly in the administrative assistant field.
I attended school in Pawhuska, but was raised in Nelagoney, OK. I absolutely love this area and that is why I have chosen to raise my kids here too. We currently reside in Wynona, OK where my son also attends school.
Some of my hobbies include drawing, painting, crafting, reading and writing. Of coarse, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My kids and I enjoy family camping trips and just hanging out at home together.

A PRIDE SURVEY was conducted in 2006 and 2008 with 6-12 grade students in all Osage County Schools. The survey reported on the four core measures required of Drug Free Communities: 1) average age of onset, 2) past 30 day use, 3) perception of parental disapproval, and 4) perception of risk. The below Tables compare the 2006 and 2008 PRIDE SURVEY results for the Osage Reservation/County showing alcohol with the highest percentage of 30-day risk during both years. Please note there is a significant change from 2006 to 2008 which concludes we are making a difference.
