NATURALRESOURCES

The Osage Nation Environmental and Natural Resources Department hereby announces the availability of the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Ponca City trust application that was approved by the Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs on July 8, 2011.   An EA was prepared to determine the environmental consequences of taking the Ponca City parcel into trust, as required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  Based on the EA’s findings, the FONSI concludes that the Osage Nation’s request to take the Ponca City parcel into trust for gaming purposes will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment within the meaning of NEPA and that an Environmental Impact Statement is thus not required.

Electronic copies of the EA and FONSI for the Ponca City parcel are available for public review on the Osage Nation’s Environmental and Natural Resources Department website.  To view these documents, click on the “Environmental and Natural Resources” link under the section titled “DEPT LIST” on the Osage Nation’s website; search the window next to the “Welcome” banner, and click on the link titled “Ponca City Environmental Assessment and FONSI.” Due to its large file size, the EA has been compressed into a .zip file.  Hard copies of the EA and FONSI are also available for public review at the Osage Nation Environmental and Natural Resources office at 100 West Main, Ste 211 in Pawhuska, OK 74056.  For any questions or comments, please contact Diane Daniels at 918-287-5404 or ddaniels@osagetribe.org.
