Osage Landowners Symposium: Understanding and Managing Crosstimbers.

This years Osage Landowners Symposium will include a field tour of the Keystone Ancient Forest guided by experts in the field, as well as talks on understanding and managing Crosstimbers. An Osage lunch will be provided to all participants! 


Whether your interest in your land is for hunting, aesthetic value, or your land is not currently being managed, the symposium will offer educational opportunities as well as let you explore the information and opportunities for assistance from the agencies represented.  Such topics that will be discussed will include learning the uniqueness of and managing Crosstimbers, identifying and combating invasive species, wildlife management, and other land management issues.  Speakers and guides will include staff from The Nature Conservancy, Oklahoma State University, University of Arkansas, the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), and the Osage Nation.   

 

The Tour will meet at the Case Community Center located at 1050 West Wekiwa Road, Sand Springs, at 8:00 am for registration and breakfast.  A charter tour bus will depart for the Keystone Ancient Forest at 8:45 a.m. for a field tour guided by experts in the field.  Please note that the field tour will include opportunities for hiking, so come prepared.  After the field tour, the charter bus will return the participants to the Case Community Center for traditional Osage Indian tacos, prepared by the winners of the 2009 National Indian Taco Championship, and additional presentations.
