Senior Housing Rental Complex - this program offers rental housing units to eligible elderly (55 yrs +) or disabled Native Americans. The current complex consists of 14 duplexes (28 units) and is located in Pawhuska, OK Tenants are offered maintenance-free and income based rental units. The Housing Department exercises the right to give priority to Osage Indian applicants; however due to the abundant number of applications received, there is a waiting list for the rental complex. Down Payment Assistance - this program offers assistance to eligible Native American's that are financing a home for the first time. The applicant must meet all eligibility requirements and the home must be free from defects and meet the definition of a standard home. The home must be approved by NAHASDA standards. The applicant must obtain financing or qualify for a first mortgage loan administered by a local lender. The applicant may be eligible for down payment assistance of 15% of the purchase price and closing costs, not to exceed a maximum amount of $5,000. LIHEAP Assistance- this program offers assistance to eligible Native American households in need of energy aid. LIHEAP is an year round program thay may apply financial assistance to the applicants utility account. The program is implimented in conjunction is the local DHS office and uses DHHS Income Guidelines to determine eligibilty. LIHEAP is also a seasonal program, assisting with heating bills during the winter months and assisting with cooling bills during the summer months.
