Cultural Lecture
August 15, 2009
HISTORICPRESERVATION
The third lecture in the Cultural Lecture Series will be presented by Dr. Andrea Hunter on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Wah Zha Zhi Cultural Center in Pawhuska at 2:00pm. All are invited to attend.

Dr. Hunter will provide an overview of widely held 19th century beliefs and the resulting justifications for racist governmental actions against Indians. Leading anthropologists and government officials of the day employed "scientific racism" to assert the inferiority of Indians. The 19th century collection of Indian bones has made the repatriation of ancestral remains today a tremendous endeavor for tribes across the country.
