Update: Osage Nation to Celebrate Sovereignty

The Osage Nation will begin its Sovereignty Celebration, beginning with a State of the Nation address by Principal Chief John Red Eagle, on Friday, March 8th , 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center, 1449 W. Main St., Pawhuska, OK.  The address will also be streamed live from www.osagetribe.com.

The dance will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at the Osage County Fairgrounds, south of city, Pawhuska, OK.  Gourd Dances will begin at 1 P.M. with supper scheduled at 5 p.m.  Grand Entry will begin at 7 p.m.  Contests have been scheduled.
Men's Straight (ages 40+, ages 16-39), Fancy (age 16+), Northern Traditional/Grass Combined (age 16+), Jr./Teen Boys, all categories combined (ages 6-15), Women's Cloth (ages 40+, 16-39) Buckskin (ages16+), Fancy Shawl/Jingle combined (ages 16+), and Jr./Teen Girls All categories combined (ages 6-15).

Osage Nation offices will be closed on March 11, 2013, to commemorate this day.

The public is cordially invited to attend all events.
