November 06, 2010
This Saturday, November 6, 2010 is a good time to change the battery in your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Installing fresh batteries in these life saving devices when you change your clocks in the fall and spring will assure you they will be in good working condition in the event that they are needed. Also doing a monthly check of the detector by pressing the test button and giving the outside of your detectors a quick cleaning with your vacuum cleaner will help give you peace of mind that they are in working order.
EXIT DRILLS IN THE HOME
Also at this time we would like you to go over the emergency exit drill of your dwelling. Try and have two exits out of each room if possible and have a specified meeting place so it can be determined that everyone is accounted for and safe. Included is a home escape plan grid to lay out your exit routes. During the holidays go over these plans with relatives and grandchildren who may be staying with you that are unfamiliar with the exit paths from your dwelling..
HOME FIRE SAFETY
Every fall and winter there are many home fires caused by space heaters, heating devices, and overloaded electrical outlets. Keep a three foot area clear of all flammable materials around all heating devices, and limit the use of extension cords. If you have any questions please contact Bobby Tallchief in Emergency Management @ 918-287-5225 or Crystal Holt in CHR / Injury Prevention @918-287-5370.
HAVE SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS
