The Skiatook JOM Parent Committee is pleased to announce their upcoming 5th Annual JOM Powwow on Saturday April 4, 2009. Head staff includes: Kingston Pipestem (Osage) as Head Singer, Joe Don Waters Jr. as Head Man, Mannon Wallace (Osage) as Head Lady, John Robert Ballard as M.C, Walter Dye as Arena Director and Osage Gourd Clan as Host Gourd Dancers. The event begins at 1pm with gourd dancing and dinner will be served at 5pm. Grand Entry is scheduled at 7pm. There will be contests for junior, teen and adult dancers in grass/fancy, straight/traditional, cloth/buckskin and jingle/fancy shawl categories. Wal-mart gift cards will be awarded to the winners. The Osage Nation Headstart in Skiatook will sponsor the tiny tots contest. The powwow will be held at the Central Gymnasium in Skiatook. Please call Avis Ballard at 918-287-5545 for more information.
