Osage Nation Counseling Center will be hosting Rachel’s Challenge at Hominy Public Schools on December 6th and 7th. There will be a community event on December 6th beginning at 6PM in the Hominy High School gym.
Rachel’s Challenge is an anti-bullying foundation and program founded by Darrell Scott and his family. Rachel was Darrell’s 17 year old daughter that was murdered in 1999 by two classmates at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
Rachel’s acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for the most life-changing school program in America. The Universal message of kindness and compassion told by Rachel’s story has been heard by students in several other countries as well as all over the United States. The program founded by Mr. Scott has prevented over 350 suicides since 2008, drastically reduced bullying, and in at least instances has prevented school shootings.
