OSAGE CONGRESS
Congressmen Red Corn and Supernaw will continue their Legislative path four more years.., according to the People of the Osage Nation on Election Day.
The voting polls were opened on Monday morning, June 07, 2010 at 8am by the Election Board & officials. Osage tribal members representing every district, town/city and community created a steady line to the Osage Nation election polls until 8 pm that evening.
Congressman Red Corn and Congressman Supernaw (both incumbents) finished the Congressional race in the top-three positions following newly-elected candidate Geoffrey Standingbear. The total tabulation for each of these candidates exceeded a thousand votes.
Approximately two hundred Osages remained on the campus until after midnight; some were sitting in lawn chairs, many gathered in standing groups while others were at the traditional campsites, all -waiting for the results of the Nations 2nd election.
The announcement came at approximately 12:50am by Lisa Otipoby, Election Supervisor, her assistant Amber Harris and the Osage Nation Election Board: Walter Hopper, Shannon Lockett, and Joe Conner. The unofficial results for the Legislative Branch were:
Geoffrey Standingbear, Pawhuska,
Raymond Red Corn, Pawhuska
William “Kugee’ Supernaw, Skiatook
Alice Goodfox, Hominy
Daniel Boone, Pawhuska
John Free Jr., Pawhuska
Current legislators creating the vacant Congressional seats are Debra Atterberry, Doug Revard, Faren Anderson and Mark Freeman. All of these Congressional members were serving a 4 year term and all decided not to run for re-election earlier this year.
The Congressional Inauguration is scheduled for July 07, 2010 at the Osage Campus.
Congratulations and welcome to the Legislative Branch.
