OSAGE CONGRESS
(4-15-10)
Thursday morning during the final hour of the 2010 Hun-kah session, a majority of Osage Legislators voted Jerri Jean Branstetter into –yet another position of responsibility. Congresswoman Branstetter was named Second Speaker for the Osage Nation Congress.
Congresswoman Branstetter set a record for the number of Chair positions and the number of Congressional committees for a legislator in a twelve month period.
Her elected positions within Congress are:
Second Speaker of the Congress
Chairperson for the Rules and Ethic
Chairperson for Congressional Affairs Committee
Chairperson of Governmental Operations
Vice Chairperson to Commerce and Economic Development
Congressional member of the Appropriations Committee
Congressional member of the Cultural Committee
Constituents and employees are probably ‘most familiar’ with Second Speaker Branstetter as she chairs the Committee on Governmental Affairs; a congressional committee that has jurisdiction for numerous tribal entities, foundations, boards and tribal departments.
Branstetter representing the Osage people as a Congressional member resides north of Wynona in a country home with her husband John Branstetter. She is originally from the Hominy Zon-zo-le District and is serving a 6 year term with the Osage Nation Congress.
Ms. Branstetter welcomes your ideas, comments and concerns. She can be reached at office number (918)-287-5620 or email address jbranstetter@osagetribe.org.
Best wishes and success to Second Speaker Branstetter!
