National Motivational Speaker Visits Schools in Osage County
Fran Kick, educational consultant, was hosted by the Osage Nation Communities of Excellence on August 30th and 31st, Sheri Mashburn, Community Liasion for Communities of Excellence facilitated his visit to Skiatook Schools, Pawhuska Schools, Shidler Schools, and Wynona Schools. The School Districts were chosen to participate with the KICK IT IN program because their status as a 24/7 Tobacco-Free Campus. Healthy Living and Positive Thinking were the themes for the two days of presentations. Fran addressed several areas that the schools thought affected their students, reaching over 1600 students throughout Osage County. "The students loved his message and that's the most I have ever seen Pawhuska students interact with a guest speaker and actually pay attention." said Katelynn Rulo, Administrative Assistant for the Osage Nation Communities of Excellence. Shidler students were affected by his speech also. The girls' softball team had not won a game in a long time and one of the girls said "It was because Fran Kick had motivated us!" And the girls got right out there and won their game. It was an honor to have such a great speaker come to these communities and touch them in all different ways.
